At first, there’s that crisp, almost sterile note that comes from the packaging. When you tear open the plastic, a faint rush of air escapes, carrying with it a scent that feels sealed in time. It’s not unpleasant—more like a reminder that these sweatpants have traveled, sat in warehouses, been folded by machines or hands you’ll never see. That initial smell is clean but artificial, a mix of fabric treatment chemicals and the faintest whisper of cardboard or plastic. Then comes the fabric itself. Most sweatpants are made of cotton blends, sometimes mixed with polyester or fleece lining, and each material contributes its own character. Cotton has a soft, almost powdery scent i love it.
